Possible causes of the water & air leaks
The leak could be coming from an unnoticed pinhole in a seam hidden under the vehicle’s molding, and although the hole may be small, this can still cause big issues. Also, if the windshield itself has been replaced at some point there’s a chance the windshield wasnt properly sealed.
A few ways to test to see if your windshield is leaking is to gently shower your vehicle with water. The lower the water pressure used the faster the vehicle will leak. If a hose is put on full force, the water usually will bounce right off. If you have a wind noise in the vehicle you can try to use soap to detect the air leak because where wind can get in, so can water. You can try the soap test where you take soap on a rag and you go all around the window and then you turn the heater blower on high defrost. Make sure the windows and the doors are all closed, and when you stand outside, you’ll see bubbles coming out if you have an air leak. Getting dripped on inside your car during a heavy rainstorm is not a very pleasant experience and can be distracting to you, so it’s good to get your sunroof checked for leaks.
